Book Early for Glyndebourne:

This year's schedule at the Glyndebourne Festival Opera ranges from Monteverdi through Britten to a newly commissioned work by European composer Peter Eötvös,based on a novella by Gabriel Garcia Marquez. If you're planning an elegant evening at Glyndebourne in East Sussex, book as soon as you can. Tickets for the mid May to late August season go on sale to the public in late April and sell out quickly.

Sign up for the Glyndebourne Festival Mailing List before January 31 and you can jump the queue. It only costs £10 to join and tickets for mailing list members go on sale in March.

What's on at Glyndebourne in 2008:

Here's what the Glyndebourne Festival Opera will be performing in the 2008 season:
  • The Coronation of Poppea by Monteverdi
  • Eugene Onegin by Tchiakovski
  • Albert Herring by Britten
  • Carmen by Bizet
  • Hansel and Gretel by Humperdinck - the first time at Glyndebourne.
  • Love and Other Demons - a newly commissioned work by highly regarded European composer Peter Eötvös, based on a work by Nobel Laureate Gabriel Garcia Marquez. This will be the first major work by Eötvös performed in the UK.

How to Book Tickets:

Book on line at the Glyndebourne Festival Website or email the box office. Prices are announced with each season but start at about £140 for operas. Choral works, when they are included in the schedule, cost start at about £60.

Once the schedule is announced, don't hesitate. Tickets vanish quickly. If you miss out on the Festival Season, watch for the off- season schedule of the Glyndebourne Opera Tour (usually announced in May). It's less formal, and tickets cost less.

How to Get Priority Booking:

Glyndebourne members can apply to book up to 24 tickets as soon as the schedule is announced. A postal ballot is held with an application of January 7 for the May to August opera season. Membership costs several thousand pounds and is for keen opera fans who can afford it.
